Our friends Stephen and Keiko recently welcomed a baby boy- what better reason for a trip up North? Stephen took Friday off of work and we headed up to Warrington. On the way, we stopped off at a National Trust house called Shugborough. It is set on a farm and has lovely countryside surrounding it. We looked around the house but enjoyed walking through the grounds most of all.
Noah was a good boy and rode around in the stroller. We bough Esme some bubbles at the National Trust shop and it was the best pound we ever spent! It kept her entertained and made Noah laugh. Here is a video of him laughing at the bubbles (and his silly sister!).
Simply beautiful.
We stayed at a Premier Inn just outside of Warrington. It was cheap and absolutely brilliant- clean and had everything we needed. They also had a lovely restaurant that we ate at several times.
On Saturday, we went got to meet baby Kento for the first time. He is adorable and a very well behaved little baby. Erika and Esme hit it off and became instant friends. We decided to go to Lyme park for the day. This is where they filmed Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth- woohoo! ;) When we arrived, Esme and Erika's new friendship was obvious!
We spent the day looking around the house and exploring the vast garden.

On Sunday we went to Liverpool and Stephen got to realize one of his goals- he rung the heaviest ringing bell in the world (on his own!). We went up and saw the bells. Esme LOVES the sound of bells and is probably going to follow in daddy's footsteps and be a bell ringer!
Liverpool Cathedral is absolutely massive and very impressive when you are standing in front of it!
After Liverpool Cathedral, we drove to another National Trust house called Little Moreton. There wasn't much garden to see but the house was very unique and interesting to look around.
After a good look around the house, we had a light lunch at the cafe and let the kids run around in the garden.

And then it was time to head back to London. Thanks for a great weekend, Pilditch family!
